The Calm After the Storm: Surviving October

01Nov12

It’s Hallowe’en evening and it’s very quiet.

I don’t have any kids to take trick or treating and since I live in an apartment building no trick or treaters come a-calling. That’s okay. I’m enjoying the quiet. Especially when it comes at the end of a busy month.

October is my busiest month. Between filling orders for custom costumes, sponsoring annual fund-raising events, and getting myself ready for the main event, I’m often run off my feet for the entire month.

I’m not complaining. I love every moment of it. I love the Fall, October and Hallowe’en. It’s my favourite time of year and holiday all rolled into thirty-one days of blustery weather, scary movies, costumes & chocolate; a few of my favourite things.

By the time October 31st rolls around I’m ready to curl up in my pjs with snack-sized candy and watch The Nightmare Before Christmas for the thousandth time.  Which is exactly what I’m doing. Right now. As I write.

As November dawns I get to relax and breathe for a little bit. It’s similar to the calm you get after the Christmas and New Year holidays pass. November is usually quiet and I’m looking forward to having the time to implement some new ideas for The Naughty Gypsy.

I’d like to start doing some giveaways and draws on the website and I’d like your opinion on what you’d like to see for prizes. Help me out and vote on the survey below, then stay turned for some great contests!

I survived another October. I’m glad it came. I’m glad it’s over. I also can’t wait to do it all over again next year!
